BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The Burlington School superintendent is urging the school board to review the conduct of one of its members after Facebook posts that the superintendent says are “sexist, racist and ethnocentric.”

Superintendent Yaw Obeng released a statement on Friday, saying the posts undermine the district’s work toward creating an accepting and inclusive climate for our schools and community.

School board member David Kirk has apologized for reposting the controversial posts on his personal page, describing them as “inexcusable” and says they have since been removed.

Obeng has suggested that Kirk withdraw from his board activities to allow the board to review the matter.

The chairman of the school board did not have a comment on the superintendent’s request.
