PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona’s unemployment rate is down.

The Department of Administration reports the seasonally adjusted rate was 5.5 percent in September, down from 5.8 percent in August as the state added 32,700 nonfarm jobs.

The September rate also is below the September 2015 rate of 5.9 percent, and the department says last month’s jobs gain is well above the post-recessionary average gain of 25,700 jobs.

Four of the 11 economic sectors added jobs in September while six posted losses and one was stable.

The government sector recorded the largest increase with 28,900 additional jobs, followed by education and health services with 4,800 more jobs and construction with 2,700 additional jobs.

Manufacturing had with biggest loss with 1,200 fewer jobs. Financial activities was close behind with a loss of 1,000 jobs.
