So the writers at “Saturday Night Live” might want to resurrect the old Prime Minister’s Questions skits from the 1990s when they learn about this.
British Prime Minister Theresa May accidentally put her colleagues in the House of Commons in stitches Wednesday with an unintentional sex joke involving fellow Conservative MP Peter Bone.
[No relation to America’s newfound political hero Ken Bone, the red-sweatered undecided voter.]
The Daily Telegraph explains that it all started when Mr. Bone, who represents Wellingborough, a constituency in the East Midlands, posed his question to the prime minister, prefacing his remarks by noting that it was his birthday.
After wishing Mr. Bone a happy birthday, the Telegraph noted, Mrs. May added, “I hope that Mrs. Bone is going to treat the occasion in an appropriate manner.”
That line was met with laughter and a sheepish recognition of her inadvertent punchline by Mrs. May, seen “laughing, in a slightly apologetic-looking manner,” reported the Telegraph.
Speaker of the Commons John Bercow tried to reestablish decorum in the chamber, failing miserably, as he interjected, “Order! I want to hear what’s coming next!”
“For some reason, this made them laugh all the more,” the Telegraph dryly quipped.
