Gov. Pat McCrory is offering money in hopes of getting a break in the case of last weekend’s firebombing at a Republican office.

McCrory announced Wednesday the state will give a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the crime at the Orange County GOP headquarters in Hillsborough. He says anyone with information should contact the State Bureau of Investigation.

The fire report came in to Orange County authorities at 9 a.m. Sunday. Authorities say a bottle filled with flammable liquid was thrown overnight through the window, damaging the interior before burning out.

Republicans say their office in a far eastern North Carolina county has been shot at recently with BB guns, but no one was hurt.

Pamlico County GOP Chairman Dave Wickersham said Wednesday no volunteers were inside when two shootings of the front windows of the county headquarters occurred in the last three weeks. The party reported what happened to the Pamlico County sheriff’s office.

The county chairman’s statement comes after someone firebombed the Orange County Republican headquarters over the weekend. There were no injuries there either, but the violence led state and national candidates from both parties to condemn what happened as a threat to democracy.

Wickersham says he’s committed to keeping the Pamlico GOP office open to the public and says additional security measures will be taken.
