CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Records show that Republican congressional candidate Jim Lawrence of New Hampshire hasn’t paid property taxes on his home in Hudson since 2013.
The Concord Monitor reports (https://bit.ly/2eFoG1s) the 2nd District candidate wrote a check for $5,313.80 to pay his taxes for 2014, but the check bounced. A lien was placed on his home last year. His outstanding delinquent tax bill is $15,614.90.
Lawrence’s campaign didn’t respond to a request seeking comment. The campaign on Tuesday afternoon announced a 24-hour suspension due to the death of a campaign staffer’s daughter.
Lawrence’s opponent, Democratic Congresswoman Annie Kuster, also has been late on paying taxes. She made late payments with interest for several years for both her home in Hopkinton and a rental property in Jackson. Clerks in both towns said Tuesday the Kusters are up to date on property taxes.
