San Antonio police are reportedly investigating a break-in Wednesday morning at Donald Trump’s campaign headquarters.
An off-duty officer working security at the office building located near Loop 410 and Harry Wurzbach Road reported seeing someone trying to break into the offices used by Mr. Trump’s campaign, a local Fox News affiliate reported.
It was unclear whether the suspect was able to get inside or whether anything was taken, Fox reported.
The officer detained the suspect, who was later arrested. His charges are still pending, Fox said.
A San Antonio Police Department spokesperson said the suspect had a history of break-ins and that it did not appear Wednesday’s attempt was politically motivated. Investigators said they believe the same suspect was burglarizing other buildings in the area.
Mr. Trump had just stopped by the offices last week to meet the local staff working on his campaign.
“He was here to let the people who are working for him and supporting him, volunteers, that he cares about them,” said Linda Marin, who works at the building.
Wednesday’s incident is the third time a Republican campaign office has been targeted in recent days.
On Oct. 8, vandals chucked two landscaping blocks through a window at the Delaware County Republican Party office in Muncie, Indiana, Fox reported.
Over the weekend, the Orange County Republican Party headquarters in Hillsborough, North Carolina, was firebombed and “Nazi Republicans leave town or else” was spray-painted on the building.
