Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 9 points: poll

Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 9 points, according to a national poll of likely voters released Wednesday.

Mrs. Clinton had a 9-point, 47 percent to 38 percent, lead over Mr. Trump in the Bloomberg Politics poll, with Libertarian Gary Johnson at 8 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 3 percent.

Head-to-head, Mrs. Clinton also led Mr. Trump by 9 points, 50 percent to 41 percent.

The survey was taken Friday through Monday — after some women started coming forward to accuse Mr. Trump of inappropriately touching them years ago. Mr. Trump has denied the charges.

Overall, 56 percent said Mr. Trump’s recent issues with women will be a concern for them as they vote.

Mr. Trump has also been dealing with the recent release of a 2005 tape on which he is heard bragging about his ability to force himself onto women because of his celebrity status and talking about how he unsuccessfully “moved on” a married woman.

Mr. Trump has apologized for what he called “locker room” talk. But some women accusing him of inappropriate behavior also said they were compelled to come forward in part because Mr. Trump said during the second presidential debate last Sunday he never acted out the acts he described.

Overall, Mrs. Clinton had a 17-point lead over Mr. Trump among women and a 2-point lead among men.

In a separate Fox News poll released Tuesday, 51 percent said they think Mr. Trump is lying, compared to 24 percent who said they think the women accusing him of inappropriate behavior are lying.
