“The Golden Girls” of the 1980s were one of the biggest stars of 2016’s New York City Comic Con, judging by eBay sales.

A limited edition run of action figures from the hit television show was released by Funko LLC at the annual event. Plastic versions of characters made famous by Bea Arthur (Dorothy), Betty White (Rose), Rue McClanahan (Blanche) and Estelle Getty (Sophia) are up for sale on eBay for up to $400.

“I don’t think we were prepared for how excited people would be,” Mark Robben, the company’s director of marketing, told The Wall Street Journal on Oct. 9. “We wanted them to be limited, but we didn’t know they would go that quickly in the morning.”

Target Corp. also received a few thousand units of the toys during the Oct. 6-9 convention, and a spokesman said the enthusiasm in stores was just as high.

“It has clearly struck a chord,” Joshua Thomas told the newspaper.

The limited edition figures are the second foray into “The Golden Girls” for Funko, which released 3¾-inch pop vinyl versions to some retails over the summer.

“I just knew there was something there,” Andrew Perlmutter, vice president of sales at Funko, told the Journal.

“The Golden Girls” ran on NBC from 1985-1992 for 177 episodes.
