ALFRED, N.Y. (AP) - New York state has opened a new advanced manufacturing center on the campus of Alfred State College.
The 16,000-square-foot center, located in Wellsville, in Allegheny County, will focus on welding and machine-tool technology. It’s part of a broader effort to boost workforce training programs for in-demand, advanced manufacturing industries.
The $5 million facility was funded by $4.5 million in higher education dollars and $500,000 in regional economic development grants.
Alfred State President Skip Sullivan said Friday the new center is a “gem” and that the facility represents an investment in the workforce of tomorrow.
