If the truth is out there, John Podesta’s private email may provide a road map to find it.
It’s no secret that the Hillary Clinton campaign chairman is a UFO buff, but the recent WikiLeaks dump of Mr. Podesta’s hacked account sheds new light on how deeply interested he is in extraterrestrial conspiracy theories.
Messages between Mr. Podesta and fellow alien enthusiasts — including a former Apollo astronaut and the guitarist of pop-punk band Blink 182 — came as a welcome surprise to UFO researchers. They are more convinced than ever that a Clinton administration would bring about the declassification of some of the federal government’s deepest secrets, including what really happened at Roswell, New Mexico; activities inside the notorious Area 51; and other pieces of a complex puzzle involving alien craft and space travel.
“There have been people within the community working with Podesta and the Clintons on the subject,” Jan Harzan, executive director of the Mutual UFO Network, told The Washington Times. “Just having the conversation is very positive to realize the subject is real, and these intelligences, wherever they’re from, visit us from time to time and we get reports on it. … We’re delighted to see the conversation going on. Hopefully, it will wake people up to the fact that we’re not alone in the universe.”
Within Mr. Podesta’s private account is a trove of messages related to UFOs, aliens and conspiracies. Some are relatively benign, such as links to news stories about the return of the Fox TV show “The X-Files.”
But others show a much deeper level of interest, seemingly confirming Mr. Podesta’s stated desire for secret government documents to be made public.
In one email, Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell — the sixth man to set foot on the moon — tells Mr. Podesta that they should meet to discuss extraterrestrial intelligence and the supposed alien technology known as “zero-point energy.” His messages also hint that the Vatican is aware of and interested in alien life.
“It is urgent that we agree on a date and time to meet to discuss Disclosure and Zero Point Energy, at your earliest available [time] after your departure,” Mr. Mitchell said, referring to Mr. Podesta’s exit from the White House last year after serving as a counselor to President Obama.
“My Catholic colleague Terri Mansfield will be there too, to bring us up to date on the Vatican’s awareness of ETI,” Mr. Mitchell said in the January 2015 email.
In a follow-up message, the former astronaut delves even deeper into extraterrestrial intelligence.
“Remember, our nonviolent ETI from the contiguous universe are helping us bring zero point energy to Earth. They will not tolerate any forms of military violence on Earth or in space,” he said.
Mitchell died in February.
Blink 182’s Tom DeLonge emailed Mr. Podesta to try to arrange a meeting with “important people” who had information about classified government programs.
“I would like to bring two very ’important’ people out to meet you in DC,” the musician wrote in an October 2015 email. “I think you will find them very interesting, as they were principal leadership relating to our sensitive topic. Both were in charge of most fragile divisions, as it relates to Classified Science and DOD topics. Other words, these are A-level officials. Worth our time, and as well the investment to bring all the way to you.”
It does not appear that Mr. Podesta responded to the message, and it’s unclear whether the meeting ever took place. Indeed, the Clinton campaign chairman seems to have rarely, if ever, engaged in detailed conversations on the subject via email, though the messages from Mitchell, Mr. DeLonge and others show Mr. Podesta as a key ally in the fight for public disclosure of government UFO files.
In February 2015, Mr. Podesta made clear that he fought unsuccessfully to declassify UFO files while he was a part of the Obama administration.
“Finally, my biggest failure of 2014: Once again not securing the #disclosure of the UFO files. #thetruthisstilloutthere,” he said in a Twitter post.
If Mrs. Clinton wins the presidential election, Mr. Podesta could find success. Mrs. Clinton has said she wants to have the files declassified, and a Clinton administration with Mr. Podesta in a key leadership role seems to be the best chance in decades for the release of long-secret files.
“I would like us to go into those files and hopefully make as much of that [as] public as possible,” Mrs. Clinton said in March. “If there’s nothing there, let’s tell people there’s nothing there. And if there is something there, unless it’s a threat to national security, I think we ought to share it with the public.”
Mrs. Clinton’s key caveat, Mr. Harzan said, may be problematic because virtually everything involving secret space travel research and extraterrestrial life in some way could be tied to national security.
“This whole thing is national security. That’s why we’ve been lied to for 70 years. That’s why it’s been kept under wraps,” he said.
