VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Virginia Beach officials have lifted water restrictions in most parts of the city.

The city had asked residents to minimize water use to prevent overloading the wastewater collection system in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.

The Virginian-Pilot reports (https://bit.ly/2dTbrIs ) that most residents were told Friday that they can resume normal water use. Restrictions remain in place for some areas, including the southern end of Sanbridge.

The newspaper reports that the Virginia Beach landfill also reopened Saturday after suffering damage during Hurricane Matthew.
