NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - The Natchez Adams County Port Commission has approved across-the-board raises for its employees.
The Natchez Democrat (https://bit.ly/2e3XdVJ ) reports that the commission approved the 2016-17 budget Wednesday, which raises the wages of port workers by 5 percent.
The budget will bring also salary expenses to about $835,000 and benefits to about $285,000.
The Adams County Board of Supervisors will make final decision on the budget during its meeting on Monday. Supervisor President Mike Lazarus expressed some reservations about approving the raises, saying the county is still paying off bond from several of the port’s projects.
