PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) - A Washington ethics panel will decide whether a state lawmaker broke the law by posting taxpayer-funded videos to her Facebook campaign page.
The Olympian reports (https://bit.ly/2dctDh4 ) that the Legislative Ethics Board says the material posted by Rep. Melanie Stambaugh, a Puyallup Republican, could be subject to rules banning the use of state resources in political campaigns.
Stambaugh removed the photos and videos in August, but she would not sign paperwork stipulating that she broke the law. The ethics panel will hold a Dec. 13 hearing to review her case — its first in two decades.
Stambaugh said she would not sign “something that I don’t believe is true.” She would not discuss which parts of the board’s findings she disagrees with but says she’s glad to have a public hearing.
