TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey official who served as an aide to Gov. Chris Christie has been nominated for a judgeship in Ocean County.

Deborah Gramiccioni (grah-mee-chee-OWN’-ee) was originally nominated in May to fill a vacancy in Mercer County.

On Friday, Christie’s office said her nomination instead is for a vacancy in Ocean County. Confirmation is pending.

Gramiccioni served as Christie’s top official at the Port Authority in 2014, and before that was his deputy chief of staff for policy.

She testified this week in the George Washington Bridge lane-closure trial of two former Christie allies accused of causing traffic gridlock for political retaliation.

Gramiccioni told jurors Tuesday how the Republican governor gathered top aides in December 2013 and expressed disappointment “in a thunderous tone” about the alleged scheme.

This version corrects an earlier story to reflect that Gramiccioni was originally nominated in May and that Friday’s announcement referred to her nomination being switched to Ocean County.
