RENO, Nev. (AP) - Reno will spend as much as $50,000 on a national search for a new city manager.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/2dNw3k7 ) that the city council voted Wednesday to hire California-based Ralph Anderson and Associates to conduct the search.
The council voted to fire the former city manager last month amid an investigation into sexual harassment complaints.
Ralph Anderson and Associates’ Greg Nelson says the firm is experienced in recruiting city manager candidates for Nevada. He says the state’s open meeting law requirements can make recruitment difficult because many candidates don’t want to make their job search public.
Nelson says it usually takes about 90 days for the company to submit finalists to the city council, although this search may take longer because of the holidays and significant public input.
