Michelle Obama said Thursday that Donald Trump’s “intolerable” behavior he described in a leaked 2005 recording has “shaken” her to her core.

“This was not just a lewd conversation,” the first lady said during an emotional speech at a Hillary Clinton rally in Manchester, New Hampshire. “This wasn’t locker room banter. This was a powerful individual speaking freely and openly about sexually predatory behavior.

“It has shaken me to my core in a way that I couldn’t have predicted,” she said.

“Language that has been painful for so many of us,” she continued. “Not just as women, but as parents trying to protect our children and raise them to be caring, respectful adults. And as citizens who think our nation’s leaders should meet basic standards of human decency.”

Mrs. Obama said Americans who don’t vote for Mrs. Clinton or don’t vote at all are “helping to elect” Mr. Trump, who “brags about sexually assaulting women.”

Her speech comes after The Washington Post published a leaked 2005 recording of Mr. Trump having a private conversation with then-host of “Access Hollywood” Billy Bush about using his celebrity status to get away with groping women.
