PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix Mercury coach Sandy Brondello has agreed to a new multiyear contract.

The Mercury announced the deal Thursday. The 48-year-old former WNBA and Australian Olympic player also will continue to serve as vice president of player personnel.

“I’m very excited to continue to be the head coach of the Phoenix Mercury,” Brondello said. “I appreciate the organization believing in me as a coach and the vision I have for this team moving forward.”

Brondello took over the team in November 2013 and led the Mercury to their third WNBA title in 2014. She was honored that season as the WNBA’s coach of the year. The Mercury were 16-18 this season and are 65-37 in three years under Brondello.
