ROME (AP) - Diego Maradona doesn’t want to make a big deal about his clash with Juan Sebastian Veron.
The two Argentines bumped into each other while playing in the “Match for Peace” at Olympic Stadium on Wednesday night, and Maradona fell over. They appeared to argue as they walked off the pitch at halftime, with Maradona the more animated of the two.
Maradona says, “What happened with Veron stays between us, I’m not supposed to talk about a player who I always admired a lot.”
Veron was severely critical of Maradona when the Argentina great coached him at the 2010 World Cup.
Veron shook off their latest clash as “nothing.”
Maradona played in the game to honor Pope Francis.
