A dryly-delivered diss by Alex Trebek is trending on Facebook today on Thursday after the “Jeopardy!” host dissed a contestant’s unique taste in music.
During the portion of the Oct. 12 program where the host chats a bit with the contestants before resuming game play, contestant Susan Cole was prompted by the veteran game-show host to explain what exactly “nerdcore” music was. “It doesn’t sound like fun,” Mr. Trebek said.
“I think it’s very fun. It’s called nerdcore hip-hop,” Ms. Cole, a legislative librarian, said, noting that it was devoted to the trials of and triumphs of nerd life, such as “video games, science-fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners. It’s really catchy and fun.”
“Losers, in other words,” Mr. Trebek quipped to audience laughter.
Of course, the Bowie, Maryland, resident had the last laugh of the evening, winning the game and pocketing $20,600, according to the official “Jeopardy!” website.
