LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (AP) - A soothing balm first developed by a local family in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom more than a century ago will be stocked at Wal-Mart stores nationwide beginning this month.

The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/2dLK5Xa ) Bag Balm started shipping its product to Wal-Mart stores across the country in September.

The salve, created by the Norris family in Lyndonville in 1899, can also be found on the shelves of CVS drug stores.

Jim Kelly, Bag Balm’s CEO, says business has been growing significantly since the company was recently bought out by two equity firms and a handful of individual investors.

Bag Balm earned the Wal-Mart and CVS accounts within the past year.

Northeast Kingdom Chamber of Commerce officials say they are pleased Big Balm is expanding its customer base outside of its borders.
