LOS ANGELES (AP) - Stephen Strasburg’s bullpen session at Dodger Stadium was cut short after the Nationals pitcher experienced discomfort in his right elbow.
Manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Strasburg threw 30 or 31 pitches instead of the scheduled 35 in Monday’s session.
Strasburg has been out since tearing the pronator tendon in his elbow on Sept. 7.
“He was throwing the ball pretty good; very good actually,” Baker said. “But we said if he felt anything, then just shut it down.”
Baker insisted he’s not concerned with Strasburg’s progress and believes he will continue his throwing program. He threw on flat ground in the outfield before Game 4 on Tuesday.
“I’m not worried,” Baker said. “It’s no thing.”
Strasburg has said he would try to return this season if the Nationals advance to the NLCS.
