The San Francisco 49ers have named Colin Kaepernick as their starting quarterback, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Kaepernick, who is in the midst of his sixth season, replaces Blaine Gabbert.
Kaepernick has been the epicenter of conversation within the NFL since he opted to sit down during the national anthem (he has since begun to take a knee) to raise awareness towards police brutality and civil rights issues within America.
Kaepernick has thrown for 10,030 yards in his career, with 56 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. Last season, Kaepernick threw for just six touchdowns and 1,615 yards in nine games. He also added five interceptions.
The 49ers play the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday.
