BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Biloxi police say a 61-year-old man has been charged with felony, simple assault on a police officer.

Sgt. O’Neal Adams tells local news outlets officers were responding to a disturbance call when Joseph Bridges struck an officer with an open hand Monday morning.

Adams says the officer injuries were minor and he did not require medical treatment.

Bridges is being held on a $25,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Bridges.
