GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - Liberal hedge fund tycoon George Soros has contributed $100,000 in monetary donations to a group attacking the incumbent in the race for Jefferson County District Attorney.

KCNC-TV reports (https://cbsloc.al/2d5k9nU ) that Soros has been linked to a group airing ads and sending mailers attacking Republican Pete Weir (WEER) in the race. They’re labeled as being from a group called Colorado Safety and Justice. Soros has made $100,000 in monetary donations to the group and $39,000 in other contributions.

The ads against Weir are so negative that his Democratic opponent, Jake Lilly, says he wants to distance himself from them.

The DA’s race is one of several around the country Soros has been donating to in hopes of influencing the criminal justice system.
