SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Democratic candidate for governor Mike Weinholtz says Republican Gov. Gary Herbert should have done more to denounce Donald Trump and should have stopped supporting him a long time ago.

Herbert on Friday pulled his endorsement of Trump following a recording of the GOP presidential candidate boasting of groping and kissing women. The Utah governor tweeted that he would no longer vote for Trump because his comments were “beyond offense and despicable.”

Weinholtz said in a statement Tuesday that Herbert should have done more than issue a tweet. He plans to hold a rally Tuesday criticizing Herbert and Trump and calling for fair treatment of women.

Herbert’s Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox says in a statement that “it takes more than a political stunt to make a difference for Utah women” and that the governor is a strong advocate for women.
