BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) - The Bellevue City Council has voted to hire away the Columbus city administrator.

The council voted unanimously Monday for Joe Mangiamelli to replace Dan Berlowitz, who was fired in August. Berlowitz has pleaded not guilty to assault and other charges that were filed after an altercation at a dentist’s office.

Mangiamelli was a finalist for the Bellevue city administrator job in 2011 before withdrawing his name when it became clear that some Bellevue council members would oppose his hiring. The job went to Berlowitz.

Mangiamelli has led the Columbus administration since 2005. His starting date in Bellevue has not been set.
