Houthi rebels in Yemen fired multiple ballistic missiles at a US warship in international waters off the coast. The ship was forced to take defensive measures but neither the crew nor the vessel were harmed. The rebel movement is fighting against the government in Yemen, which is supported by the Saudis.

“USS Mason detected two inbound missiles over a 60-minute period while in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen. Both missiles impacted the water before reaching the ship,” Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said. “There were no injuries to our sailors and no damage to the ship,” reported Reuters.

“We assess the missiles were launched from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen. The United States remains committed to ensuring freedom of navigation everywhere in the world, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our ships and our service members,” Davis continued.
