CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Gov. Maggie Hassan says preliminary figures show the state with a $130 million surplus for fiscal year 2016.
Hassan released details of the preliminary unaudited surplus Friday. The Democrat says the surplus will allow for the continued strengthening of the state’s “rainy day fund” and will bring it to its highest level in recorded history.
She says the surplus means that as the budget process for the next two years gets underway, the state will be in a good position to continue addressing challenges such as the substance abuse crisis, school funding and the effects of the drought on the state’s farmers.
