MIDDLETON, Mass. (AP) - An inmate who walked away from a Massachusetts facility that treats defendants with drug and alcohol addictions has been captured in his New Hampshire hometown.

Essex County Sheriff Frank Cousins Jr. said in a statement Wednesday that 24-year-old Robert Reidy was caught Tuesday evening in Nashua.

Reidy was reported missing from the minimum security Lawrence Correctional Alternative Center on Tuesday afternoon. He is a pretrial inmate who faces drug possession charges.

He is not considered violent.

The Lawrence facility offers rehabilitation and educational services, work release programs, and community service programs.

Cousins says arrangements are being made to extradite Reidy. It was not clear if he had a lawyer who could comment.
