Donald Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin in the presidential race — putting him over the top in the chase for the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House, and making him the first Republican to win the state since Ronald Reagan carried the state in 1984.
Networks called the race in Wisconsin for Mr. Trump several hours after polls closed there at 9 p.m.
The announcement came after The Associated Press called the race in Pennsylvania for Mr. Trump, who delivered on his promise of reshuffling the political map by taking the Keystone State and Wisconsin.
It also came after Clinton campaign manager John Podesta said the Democrat wasn’t going to address the outcome of the race until every vote was counted, suggesting they might not be ready to accept the results of the election.
“Several states are too close to call, so we’re not going to have anything more to say tonight,” Mr. Podesta said.
President Obama carried Wisconsin by about 7 percentage points in 2012 and 14 percentage points in 2008.
Exit polls showed that Mr. Trump won half of men and voters 45 or older. He also won half of white voters, as well as those with a high school education or less.
