DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio woman has been sentenced to 65 years in prison for stealing jewelry and other valuables from several dozen elderly residents at nursing homes and assisted living facilities over several years.

The Columbus Dispatch (https://bit.ly/2egiNXT ) reports former nurse’s aide Susan Gwynne showed no emotion as she was sentenced Monday for theft and other charges. A Delaware County judge cited Gwynn’s lack of remorse, though the 55-year-old Columbus woman did apologize at the sentencing for the pain she caused.

Her attorney calls the sentence ridiculous.

Gwynne has said she started stealing to support a drug habit. Investigators found bins and drawers of credit cards, keepsakes and other items at her home.

An assistant county prosecutor says the original owners of many of those items haven’t been identified.
