Donald Trump’s campaign spokesman on Monday said the FBI should release all the messages it went through in its latest review of emails tied to the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email set-up.
“We know that Secretary Clinton was extremely careless and reckless — going back to Director [James B.] Comey’s description back in July,” Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller said on CNN’s “New Day.”
“Don’t accept it — they should release all the emails. Let us have a look before Election Day,” Mr. Miller said. “We think that would be the smart thing to do.”
“I want justice to be served,” he said. “I want them to go through; I want them to finish the investigation.”
“They should go ahead and put those out. Let us see what’s in there,” Mr. Miller said.
On Sunday, the FBI director informed Congress that the bureau was not changing its conclusions from July, when he said Mrs. Clinton and her aides acted carelessly with her private email set-up but that he would not be recommending criminal charges for mishandling classified information.
Late last month, Mr. Comey had disclosed that the bureau learned of the existence of emails that appeared to be relevant to the investigation through an unrelated case. He said in his new letter that investigators have been working “around the clock” to review a large volume of emails from a device obtained in connection with another case.
That case was reportedly an investigation into former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s allegedly sending lewd messages to an underage girl. Mr. Weiner is the estranged husband of Huma Abedin, a top aide to Mrs. Clinton.
