BOSTON (AP) - Former President George H.W. Bush was once known for playing golf at breakneck speed. Now collectors have an opportunity to own some of his golfing history.

Boston-based RR Auction has placed up for bid Bush’s Titleist Scotty Cameron ’Big Sur’ putter, his Callaway golf bag and a pair of size 11 Nike Air golf shoes. Also included are a couple of golf balls and a scorecard dated July 16, 2003.

Robert Livingston from RR Auction said Bush gave the items to a worker at the Cape Arundel Golf Club in Maine, where the 41st president spends his summers. The auction ends Wednesday.

Bush was never known to lollygag on the links. Fellow World Golf Hall of Fame & Museum member Hale Irwin says golfers needed “track shoes” to keep up.
