MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Former Republican U.S. Sen. Gordon Humphrey is urging New Hampshire voters to choose Hillary Clinton in a new digital ad released by the Democrat’s campaign.
Humphrey served New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate through the 1980s and was known as a staunch conservative. He backed Ohio Gov. John Kasich in the Republican primary and has been vocal with his views against Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Humphrey calls Trump “cruel,” ’’shameless” and “a bully” in the direct-to-camera appeal. He warns Trump could lead the nation into nuclear war.
He ends the video by saying voting for Clinton is “the responsible thing to do.”
