CANTON, Miss. (AP) - CVS Pharmacy is paying a civil fine of nearly $24,000 after failing to properly handle and keep records of hazardous waste at a Mississippi store.
Rhode Island-based CVS agreed to pay the fine to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality for violations at a store in Forest. The regulator cited CVS for failing to perform weekly inspections of its hazardous waste storage area, keeping waste containers open, failing to dispose of one box within 90 days and failing to keep required records.
A CVS vice president signed the Sept. 8 order agreeing to waive hearing rights and pay the fine.
