SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - After two finalists withdrew from consideration, the job of Scottsdale City Manager now is down to three candidates.

City officials say Scottsdale City Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey Nichols, Odessa (Texas) Assistant City Manager Konrad Hildebrandt and former Sunnyvale (California) City Manager Gary Luebbers will be interviewed by City Council members next Wednesday and Thursday.

They say Queen Creek Town Manager John Kross and former Corpus Christi (Texas) City Manager Ronald Olson have withdrawn themselves from consideration.

City officials had picked five finalists last week from a pool of 89 applicants after a series of preliminary interviews and background checks.

The City Council could extend a job offer to one of the candidates after next week’s interview process.

Scottsdale’s water director has been acting city manager since June 2015.
