Donald Trump completed his pivot Saturday to baby-kissing politician.

The Republican nominee halted his stump speech at a rally in Tampa, Florida, to lift a baby boy out of the crowd, give him a kiss and lift the infant above his head for the audience’s approval.

The crowd went wild.

“Future construction worker,” said Mr. Trump, holding he pudgy tot wearing a tunic and bonnet with an American flag design.

He handed the infant back and gave a thumbs-up to the parents.

“They did a great job,” said Mr. Trump. “That is a great, beautiful baby. Congratulations. That’s an early Trump fan, right. That’s an early United States fan.”

Remarking on the scene for his TV audience, Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto compared the image of Mr. Trump holding high the baby to the iconic image from the movie “The Lion King.”

With three days until the election, Mr. Trump has gained momentum to make the race neck-and-neck with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton across most battleground states, including Florida.
