RIVERDALE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities have accused two men of setting up a robbery so they could kill their would-be accomplice.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/2fl47V0 ) reports that T’Savonti Scott and Charles Smith were charged Thursday with murder in the Oct. 23 shooting death of Gebermdhin Alekto.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the suspects fired several shots at Alekto’s car while he was inside the vehicle, causing the car to flip off the road and hit a tree in Riverdale.

Investigators did not say why Scott and Smith shot Alekto or why they believe he was set up. No further details were released.

It is unclear whether the suspects have attorneys.
