LAS VEGAS (AP) - The latest on a power outage that caused the evacuation of thousands of people from the Paris Las Vegas hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip (all times local PDT):
6:20 p.m.
A hotel official says the darkened Paris Las Vegas resort could remain closed overnight, displacing thousands of guests and gamblers, while work crews repair its damaged main power line.
Caesars Entertainment Corp. spokesman Rich Broome says authorities decided at nightfall Thursday that it was getting too late to promise to let guests back in.
Broome says it’s possible power can be restored at some point overnight, but officials couldn’t be sure.
Clark County Fire Chief Greg Cassell says about 3,000 guests and employees were evacuated after a contractor the power main about 9:45 a.m.
The full evacuation was ordered after noon when the fire alarm system battery power was running low.
Cassell says firefighters rescued 11 people from five different elevators and a few people suffered from anxiety-related issues, but no injuries were reported and no one was hospitalized.

Fire crews in Las Vegas are going door-to-door with flashlights inside a darkened hotel-casino on the Strip to make sure everyone has been safely evacuated due to a power outage.
Clark County Fire Chief Greg Cassell says about 3,000 guests and employees have been evacuated since a contractor cut into the main power line at the Paris Las Vegas at about 9:45 a.m. Thursday.
The full evacuation was ordered after noon because battery power on the fire alarm system was running low.
The power remained out late Thursday afternoon but Cassell told reporters that authorities don’t believe any guests remain inside. He says firefighters have completed about 60 percent of their sweep to confirm that.
Cassell says 11 people had to be rescued from five different elevators and a few people suffered from anxiety-related issues but no injuries were reported and no one was taken to the hospital.

Officials for the company that owns the Paris Las Vegas says they’re working to restore power to the hotel-casino on the Vegas Strip where thousands of people were evacuated after the entire building lost power.
Caesars Entertainment Corp. executive vice president Rich Broome says full restoration of power is expected sometime Thursday but was not sure when.

Jay Sarno of Santa Fe Springs, California told the Las Vegas Review-Journal he won more than $1,000 on a Keno machine just before the power went out.
He says the casino gave him a voucher to claim his money after power is restored.
Sarno says members of his traveling group had to walk up 18 flights of stairs in the dark to retrieve belongings before fire officials ushered them outside.

Thousands of guests and employees have been evacuated from a big hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip due to a power outage.
Clark County spokeswoman Stacey Welling says the entire Paris Las Vegas lost power at about 9:45 a.m. Thursday when a contractor working in the basement cut into the main power line.
No injuries were reported, but Welling says fire crews had to rescue 11 people who were trapped in five different elevators.
Some evacuations began immediately after the outage was reported.
Welling says the approximately 3,000 people who remained in the building were told to leave Thursday afternoon because the battery power was running low on the building’s fire alarm system.
Most of the guests were being sent to neighboring hotels, including Bally’s and Planet Hollywood.
