ATLANTA (AP) - The son of the namesake of Emory University’s Michael C. Carlos Museum has agreed to donate $3 million to the museum.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/2eiAUYc ) reports the pledged funds from Chris Carlos will contribute to the Thalia N. Carlos Memorial Fund, an endowment named in honor of his mother that supports educational programs, museum exhibitions and other critical needs.

In a statement, museum Director Bonnie Speed says the donation honors Thalia Carlos’ belief “in the power of art to inspire and engage and to make connections between cultures.”
