NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - President Barack Obama is tapping Nashville businessman and Democratic booster Bill Freeman to serve on an advisory committee for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The Tennessean reports (https://tnne.ws/2gDnt8a ) that Freeman will serve on the center’s advisory committee on the arts.
Freeman is the chairman of the real estate company Freeman Webb Co. A top Democratic fundraiser, Freeman was a fundraising bundler for Obama during both presidential campaigns. He raised money for Hillary Clinton’s campaign this year.
Freeman lost a bid for Nashville mayor last year. He’s considering a run at governor in 2018.
The Kennedy Center hosts more than 3,000 events each year and receives federal money for maintenance and upkeep.
