BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey is telling supporters she’s willing to sue Republican President-elect Donald Trump if that’s what’s needed to protect the state.

In a fundraising email Tuesday, the Democrat said that when the federal government overreaches or attempts to take illegal action, state attorneys general provide a first line of defense.

In the email, Healey says she won’t hesitate to take Trump to court if he carries out what she described as his unconstitutional campaign promises.

Healey, who supported Democrat Hillary Clinton, ticked off a number of concerns, saying she’ll fight to defend Massachusetts’ efforts to expand health care, enforce some of the country’s toughest gun laws and maintain oversight of banks and Wall Street.

Healey faces re-election in 2018 and has about $526,000 in her campaign account.
