BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Nov. 19 increased from the previous week’s total.
The state labor department figures released late Monday show the initial claims rose to 3,068 from the previous week’s total of 2,386. For the comparable week a year earlier, there were 2,404.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 2,664 from the previous week’s average of 2,508.
Continued unemployment claims claimed for the week ending Nov. 19 decreased to 23,066 compared to 23,117 the previous week.
The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 23,371 from the previous week’s average of 23,377.
