ALCOA, Tenn. (AP) - An East Tennessee worker trying to help restore electric service during a power outage has been killed by a falling tree.

A statement from Alcoa City Manager Mark Johnson and Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong says 29-year-old Brian Huffstetler, a city of Alcoa lineman, died Monday evening when a tree hit him while he was climbing a utility pole. The statement says the Huffstetler was taken to Blount Memorial hospital where he was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma.

The statement described him as a “dedicated, energetic and enthusiastic” employed. He is survived by a wife and two children.

The sheriff says his office is investigating.
