OPINION:
America is truly the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are a country that values equality and freedom.
We are a country that gives our citizens the right to speak freely and express themselves.
America is a mix of cultures where people from all backgrounds have a shot at the American dream.
We are a nation that gives women the same rights and opportunities as men.
I am proud to be a woman in the United States of America and I am lucky to have these rights and opportunities that millions of women in other countries can only dream of. However, this does not mean things are perfect for women in our nation. In fact, in 2014, women made only 83 cents of every $1 earned by a man.
Hillary Clinton talks about this wage gap quite often. In fact, Mrs. Clinton has been talking about the wage gap for years. As a first lady, she had the opportunity to start a movement. As a Senator, she had the opportunity to make changes to better pay for women in the workplace.
For over 30 years, Mrs. Clinton did not inspire or create the changes American women needed. Yet, she thinks we will trust her enough to vote for her simply because of her gender alone. I am not fooled and I know my fellow hard-working women out there will not be fooled either.
The reality is much different than what Mrs. Clinton would like for us to believe when it comes to Donald Trump and women. Mrs. Clinton wants us to think Mr. Trump hates women and does not respect their rights, but this is simply not true.
In fact, Mr. Trump has spent his career supporting women in the workplace. Long before it was popular, at a time when women were not particularly welcome to join “the boy’s club” within the highest ranks of businesses, Donald Trump’s inner circle of executives was made up of just as many women as it was men.
I know Mr. Trump personally, and I know that he does not and will not take your vote for granted. He will make it a priority to not just talk about equal pay for equal work, but to actually make it happen for women across this nation by providing us with strong economic policies and changing labor laws and regulations that have made it possible for this wage gap to exist in 2016.
We simply cannot afford to be over-taxed, overregulated and underpaid any longer. It is time for us to part with the past and look to the future. On November 8th, I will be casting my vote for Donald J. Trump. Join me and together we will end the wage gap and make America great again for women from sea to shining sea!
