NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee’s largest state office building will reopen Tuesday after being closed because of a power outage.
About 2,100 state employees work in the William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower, which is located near the state Capitol in Nashville.
Department of General Services spokesman David Roberson says a scheduled weekend power outage at the building had to be extended but that workers restored electricity by Monday afternoon.
Roberson says while some employees are working from home, those who are unable to because of the building closure won’t be required to make up the time.
The state bought the 31-story building from the American General Life and Accident Insurance Co. in 1994. Gov. Bill Haslam’s administration has more than doubled the number of people working in the building since he took office 2011.
