LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Evelyn Akhator had a career-high 28 points and 13 rebounds for her second double-double to start the season as No. 19 Kentucky defeated Albany 70-46 in the Kentucky Classic on Saturday.
Akhator had 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats defeated No. 14 Miami 82-66 in their opener. She hit 10 of 15 shots against the Great Danes (0-1) and all eight of her free throws. She also had four blocks.
Kentucky ended the second quarter with a 9-0 run to lead 36-19 at the half. Albany held the Wildcats to three field goals in the third quarter, which included a drought of almost 7 minutes, but they made 10 of 11 free throws to push the lead to 19.
Makayla Epps, who had 29 against Miami, was held to eight points but UK was 21 for 26 from the line and held Albany to 25 percent shooting.
