Bradley Beal is sure of one thing and unsure of another. He knows the not-this-again feeling of another injury is irritating. He does not know if he will play Friday night against the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Washington Wizards’ $128 million shooting guard left Wednesday’s game against the Boston Celtics because of hamstring tightness. He had an MRI evaluation performed Thursday. That showed no structural damage. Friday, Beal characterized the injury, if it should even be called that, as hamstring tightness and possibly a slight strain.
“This is something nobody likes — especially me, I hate being injured,” Beal said. “This is something that could have been a lot worse and thankfully it’s not. Just play it by ear. Hopefully, I’ll feel great tonight and see how I feel.”
Beal participated in the lighter parts of what was a light shootaround Friday morning for the Wizards. He went through the offensive plays and defensive scout for Cleveland. Afterward, he worked out on the Wizards practice court to test his hamstring. He remains questionable to play Friday night. Beal will warm up pregame and he and the Wizards will determine afterward if he can play.
As far how he feels Friday morning versus Wednesday night?
“A lot better,” Beal said. “Just in terms of mentally and physically.”
