LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is leaving for his sixth trade trip to China - and his first with Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.
The Republican governor departs Thursday for the eight-day investment mission and returns Nov. 19.
Snyder will meet with government officials, industry executives and media.
He plans to continue to press the case for Chinese companies to expand in Michigan, promote the state as a destination for Chinese tourists and open doors to new markets for Michigan businesses.
Snyder will be joined by Duggan for part of the trip - the first time the governor and mayor have traveled together to promote trade.
Snyder says in a release that Michigan has attracted roughly $650 million in new business investment from China since his first mission to Asia in 2011.
