HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) - The owner of a Massachusetts music school has been sentenced to nearly a year of probation after pleading guilty to allowing a teacher to be alone with children while under investigation for child rape.

The Eagle-Tribune (https://bit.ly/2fAksVH ) reports that say Nancy Burger, owner of the DeAngelis Studio of Music in Haverhill, was sentenced this week to 11 months of probation after pleading guilty to reckless child endangerment.

The charges against a co-defendant were dismissed.

Authorities say that in October 2013, Burger was made aware that an employee of the school was under investigation for sexually assaulting and impregnating a 13-year-old female student.

That voice teacher, Joshua Garsteck, was sentenced to up to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to child rape and other charges last year.
